Summary0000381: TAR problem with incremental backups
DescriptionWith TAR 1.20, If I use the -g (or --listed-incremental=) pointing to a metadata file in a different drive, I get an error "No such file or directory".

for example:

[D:\]tar -cf i:/respir/backup_tar/drived.1.tar -g h:\backup_tar\drived.snar *

results in:
tar: =h\:\\backup_tar\\drived.snar: Cannot open: No such file or directory

Using forward slashes doesn't help

my guess is that the problem is in the slash inserted between the drive letter and the colon.

The -g option works when there is no drive letter given, but keeping the backup information on the drive that I am backing doesn't seem wise.
