Summary | 0000620: Squid cannot connect to external links
Description | For a long time I am been unable to update squid, as version later than 3.0.4 wouldn't work on my setting, despite my fiddlings with the conf file. Yesterday, by chance, I discovered the reason thanks to Lewis Rosenthal blog http://www.2rosenthals.net/wordpress/configuring-squid-proxy-on-os2-path-adjustments-399/ To keep information about the DNS servers, os/2 uses the file %boot%\mptn\etc\resolve2 while squid is compiled to read it in %unixroot%/etc/resolv.conf Maybe it was obvious to someone, but not to me, so I didn't have such a file (and not even an etc directory in the unixroot partition). Just copied resolv2 to resolv.conf there and ta-da! the latest squid is running like a charm. So, my suggestion is to change back that setting to resolv2 in future updates or, alternatively, add this information in the readme.os2, so one can see it quickly

it should be possible to make squid use %etc%\resolv2 - I will look into that when time permits |

Thanks! |

http://smedley.id.au/tmp/squid-3.3.11-os2-20140909.zip should hopefully correct this. I ran out of time this morning to test it so YMMV :) |
